Jams & Marmalades
I have very fond memories watching and helping my Mum make preserves, collecting blackberries along the hedges (as to the ratio of those that were picked and then either entered my mouth or the plastic bucket I can not say! ).
There is something very cheering and pleasurable about gazing along a shelf of preserves that you have created. Their colour and textures as well as the tastes are reminders of the raw ingredients, how you came about them and the season of the year.
Our secret to the wonderful delicious tasting jams and marmalade that grace our breakfast tables is making them in small quantities from gorgeous fresh fruit.
